Definicja character representation

Binary encoding of characters. The assignment of a character set to the character representation takes place using codepage. The ISO-8859 character sets are single-byte character representations in which each character is encoded in no more than one byte. SJIS and BIG5 are double-byte character representations for Japanese and traditional Chinese fonts. The Unicode character representations comprise all characters in the world and can be encoded in 1, 2, or 4 bytes, depending on the UTF format.
