Component of SAP NetWeaver that supports the integration, ordered staging, and unified management of unstructured information from different sources. Knowledge Management includes the components Content Management (CM) and Search and Classification (TREX). It provides users of SAP Enterprise Portal with a central, role-specific point of entry to information and documents that can be stored physically in different repositories. Search and classification functions allow portal users quick and easy access to information contained in the connected repositories. Knowledge Management provides open programming interfaces (APIs) that allow you to develop enhancements and your own functions, and to integrate these into the standard system. This can include the development of repository managers and your own KM functions as well as modifications of the user interface.
