Product the supplier uses to execute shipping in the back-end system for SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC).

A supplier distinguishes between planning-relevant products and supplier back-end products. The supplier uses the planning-relevant product for planning purposes, whereas the supplier back-end product represents the actual product being shipped. The supplier is not interested in product details such as weight and volume for forecasting and planning. The specific attributes such as weight and volume of the supplier back-end product have to be considered during shipment planning only. An example would be the special situation that a product has varying characteristics such as weight and volume, due to the season or during a promotion. The supplier must take this into consideration when shipping the product. In this case, the supplier creates for a product (such as a tissue) several supplier back-end products (such as thick and thin tissues) in the back-end system and in SAP SNC.

In product determination, SAP SNC determines the planning-relevant product from the supplier back-end product, and vice versa. This enables the supplier, for example, to execute the short-term forecast for the product "Tissue", while SAP SNC uses the weight and volume of the supplier back-end product "Thick tissue for winter" for the loading of shipments in the Transport Load Builder (TLB). In addition, SAP SNC sends the planning results to the supplier back-end system, in which the shipping is then processed with supplier back-end products.
