In UNIX file systems, a chunk is held in a cooked file or a raw device. In NT file systems, a chunk is held in the file system. Chunks may be up to 2 GB and must reside completely within a dbspace. When a dbspace needs extending, a new chunk is added (not necessarily contiguous to existing chunks).
