Controls can vary greatly in terms of functional complexity. A control can be an ActiveX control or a JavaBean.

In ABAP controls are available as software components of the ABAP runtime environment for handling complex screen elements. Table Control and Tabstrip Control are platform independent controls, that are accessed directly with Dynpro and ABAP statements. Furthermore there are the above mentioned platform dependent controls, which are accessed from ABAP via classes of the Control Framework .
