Definicja decomposition point

Point from which the product structure is reduced into its component parts. An iPPE product structure has an access node. The structure nodes that contain the individual components are assigned to the level below the structure node. This access node is the decomposition point.

If the product structure is used in several plants, the product structure can be different in each plant. In iPPE, these differences can be mapped at the access node using alternatives (each alternative represents one plant). The plant-specific decompositions of the product structure is mapped using the alternatives.
