An inheritance occurs when an object receives the attributes assigned to another object.

This occurs when:

An object has a relationship with another object. For example, a position can inherit the attributes of the related job. An object is in a hierarchical structure, for example, an organizational structure. When you work with hierarchical structures, lower-level objects can receive the attributes of higher-level objects if you do not provide other attributes.
