The SAP architecture component that allows direct communication between the SAP system and the Internet.
The Internet Communication Manager (ICM) is an independent multithread process, which is started and monitored by the dispatcher. It accepts HTTP (or other protocol) requests from the Internet and distributes them in the SAP system for processing. It can also act as a client and pass on HTTP requests from the SAP System to a Web server and give the answer to the SAP System.
The ICM has no protocol-dependent components. It tries to provide a framework for any Internet protocols.
