Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) are organized into MIME types and subtypes that are able to interpret the contents of different documents. For example, the MIME type/subtype text/html refers to a text in HTML format. Web browsers and Web servers use MIME to interpret the files they send and receive.
