A tax number assigned, in Poland, to all taxpayers. It is used by legal and natural persons to identify themselves in transactions with the tax authorities.
In Polish, the tax number is known as numer identyfikacji podatkowej.
NIP numbers for natural persons are structured xxx-xxx-xx-xx (for example, 123-456-78-90); those for legal persons and other bodies are structured xxx-xx-xx-xxx or xxx-xxx-xx-xx.
