The shadow system is an SAP NetWeaver Application Server system (or an SAP Basis or SAP Web Application Server system in older target releases) with restricted operation. It contains the full Repository of the target release, and the ABAP Dictionary source code determined by the RDDIT006 phase (customer objects, repaired objects, generated objects). It is used in the upgrade for the modification adjustment of the ABAP Dictionary objects and for the activation of objects.
