A network of SAP Enterprise Portal installations, comprising a single "main portal" and any number of "remote content providers".

A remote content provider collects and compiles data for iViews from any backend system, typically located in the same geographical location, and transfers fully rendered data to the main portal for delivery to end users at runtime. Content sharing is uni-directional, from remote content provider to main portal. This configuration facilitates optimal data retrieval from remote backend systems, regardless of their geographical location, for portal users accessing a central location.
